SUMMER EVENINGS TASTER SESSION ON WATER AT FRANKWELL

This is a specific event booking for NHS staff for a requested taster session. The session is for any ability to join us at our Club for a taster session in Kayaks or Canoes.

Time is 'meeting' - please arrive 5 minutes prior to get yourself sorted.

Suitable for adults and for juniors (generally 8 to 10 years old plus) to join in a 'give it a go' session in a fun and safe environment. Participants may be grouped depending on number of participants and number of coaches, generally into age and/or experience specific groups (e.g. adults / older teenagers / juniors).

Coaches and leaders on hand to provide handy hints and tips while supervising the session. Will usually build to a capsize and get out practice, while either having a gentle tour up the river or a wet game session at Frankwell.

Please bring warm, non-cotton clothes or a wet suit for paddling in, footwear for paddling in (essential), water proof jacket and warm change of clothes.

White Water Introduction / Intermediate Session

Come and join us for some splashy fun and smiles on moving water on Wednesdays in Llangollen.

Opportunity to come and 'play' or to get involved in a coached session, focused on moving water skills.

Time is 'on the water' - please arrive 15 minutes prior to get kit sorted. Late arrivals may not get the opportunity to paddle.

Suitable for adults or teenagers to join in a 'give it a go' session on white water in a fun and safe environment. Coaches on hand to provide handy hints and tips while supervising the session.

15 Club Paddle / led places available, peer paddlers MUST also book on via this event booking to allow TNR registration.

Please book on each attendee individually.

The Club now has access to the TNR building, including changing facilities and showers.

Booking in at TNR

Paddlers pay the paddling fee through this event booking. The cost is £7.20 to cover the TNR cost and booking fee. This booking fee is non-refundable in the event of cancellation unless the Club has reason to cancel the event.

If you pay at the same time as event booking you do NOT need to pay again direct to TNR. If you do NOT pay to paddle via the event booking then you will need to pay via the parking app on site to avoid an ANPR fine of £100; it is one payment per person paddling.

All paddlers MUST register their number plate within the TNR building when you arrive to avoid the parking fine.

Required kit of boat with airbag, paddle, spray deck, helmet and buoyancy aid which can be hired from the Club for £10.00 charge, payable at booking. Attendees must arrange own transport of boat to location, to be collected from Frankwell on a Mon evening, and returned prior to following Mon evening.

WW G2/3 Club Paddle (15 Aug 2026)

White Water Trip

Jordan invites you on a fun relaxed Club Trip. This will be G2/3 water on the Lower Treweryn in Bala - Saturday 15th August.

This is currently limited to 4 led paddlers. Please add yourself to the waiting list if the led trip is full.

This trip is a lovely Grade 2 / 3 paddle on the most fabulous stretch of N Wales water. If you are unsure if this trip is for you, please give me a shout.

It is Dam Release, so will only go ahead if a release is confirmed, usually in the week prior. Meet will be at the Fire Station Car Park in Bala at 09:00 to sort shuttle. If there's no release we will see what other suitable rivers we can relocate to and use the Dee if all else fails

Paddlers should be happy paddling on the Dee, getting into and out of eddies confidently, and comfortable with a wet exit.

4 Club Paddle led places. More led places may be available if additional leaders can make it - put yourself on the waiting list if the event is full so we can gauge demand.

Required kit of WW boat, air bags, paddle, spray deck, helmet and buoyancy aid. Club kit available to hire, payable at booking. The boat booking must also be made here:

well what's to say its a 3Ds trip so bring plenty of food and your happy selves

we are paddling from Bangor to Fandom around 14 miles.

An enjoyable river section with numerous meanders. fun for everyone if there are strong winds you need to be able to paddle against them at times.
there will be a shuttle so be prepared to share cars its a long shuttle so those who are not doing a shuttle may want to bring a extra cup of tea to drink.

ok any questions ask a D but in essence anyone who can paddle a straight line and who can cope with a bit of wind at times.

bring boat, BA< paddle preferable spare paddle and personal first aid kit and change of clothing, and sunhat suncream etc. also bring food drink and spare food and drink.

aim to be ON the water for 10 am so meet up at 9:15

assume to finish around 4pm to 7pm depending on water levels wind and how many stops we do

KIDS PADDLESPORT SUMMER EVENINGS AT FRANKWELL

Shrewsbury Canoe Club is excited to offer paddlesport evenings at Frankwell, Shrewsbury on Monday evenings throughout the summer, starting on the water at 6pm, please arrive at least 15 minutes before to sort equipment.

Suitable for kids aged 8 to 16, we'll provide the boat, the paddle, the safety kit and the coaches to make it fun and exciting, learning paddlesport through games and engagement. Plus an opportunity to make new friends, and have the best time on the water.

A really fun event to come and give Paddlesport a go - kayaks, open canoes, SUPs, Polo and racing boats are possible options.

Parents are required to remain at Frankwell throughout the session, and are welcome to join us on the water. Kids cannot at any time be left in the sole custody of the Canoe Club in case your child wishes to get off the water before the end of the session.

Feel free to hang around with us at the end of the session for a bit of a social, have a cuppa or a bring a beer with you!

A charge of £4 is made for kids aged between 8 and 16 years old to cover the cost of boat and equipment hire. There is no charge for coaching or leading. We encourage families or juniors to become Club members after a couple of sessions with us.

No refunds or transfers of booking payments are available for cancellations made on the day of the event.

SCC September Time Trial (12 Sep 2026)

Join us for the ninth Shrewsbury Canoe Club time trial of the year.

Note this is on a Saturday rather than Sunday!

Open to all paddlers and boats (white water, sea kayak, open canoe, racing, SUP, polo etc) with a choice of 2.5km and 5km courses. We'll organise a rough handicap, setting the slowest boats off first with the aim of everyone finishing close together.
This will be a peer paddle as you will need to be able to self rescue if no one is close enough to help out.
You'll need a boat, paddle, buoyancy aid, suitable paddling clothing depending on the weather and a change of clothes for afterwards.
Free for club members with their own boats and paddling kit. £4 entry fee for non-members and/or boat hire.
Changing available in the cricket pavilion (depending on cricket club use) plus tea and snacks afterwards.

yorkshire canoe padderling (26 Mar 2027)

So it will be a week long canoe trip in Yorkshire, limited spaces due to me being the only canoe coach going. we will stay in a Airbnb and enjoy some of the famous Yorkshire waters for a long week.

if you need any info give me a ring or a email but in essence will probably paddle the touring rivers so think grades 1 -2,2-3 and 3. will be for traditional Canoe tandem or single.

rivers at moment looking at the Tees , the Ouse, and possibly the swale.

Good for people that have paddled white water before, you may need to share a room with someone and you will defiantly have to look at portaging and car driving support for canoes.

need to bring Hemet, paddle spare paddle, Ba, painters, swim lines , personal first aid kit, drybags, dry suits, or cag and dry trousers. if you have pin kits and shelters will be most welcome. lastly some non kayaking gear for the occasional meal out,

i would also suggest in case to insure your boats as rescue will be more based on looking after you than your boat if that makes sense should this occur.
