Dave Butler is organising a Club Trip on the North Tyne at the start of November. This replaces the annual Tyne Tour, and is for SCC Club members.

Great opportunity to paddle WW touring rivers grade 2/3 and/ grade 3/4 in stunning scenery with fellow members and friends. It will be a fabulous weekend, arriving the Fri evening, and heading back South on Sun evening.

Suitable for: happy on grade 2 water as a member of a led group on longish trips lasting  probably up to 6 hours paddling time.

We have booked accommodation  for the nights of Friday 5th and Saturday 6th Nov at Greencarts Farm, Humshaugh, NE46 4BW, (which is exactly where we want to be for access to the North Tyne) with  options as follows:

Bunkhouse: 10 places . £35 per person for the 2 nights. 2 rooms each with 4 bunk beds plus a pull out bed in each room making 10 in total and use of the facilities which include shower room, toilet and kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge/freezer, cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, TV. Bring your own sleeping bag and food.

Camping Barn: 11 places £25 per person for the 2 nights. A basic (unheated) dormitory style room with 11 beds. plus a small kitchenette including a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. It uses the camping facilities which are located close by. Bring your own cooking equipment food and sleeping bag (and hot water bottle?)

Camping/vanningNo more camping/vanning bookings until the bunk house/barn are close to full  and then places will depend on whether we have  more leaders signed up.  £18 per person for the 2 nights. High standard washroom facilities, also a sink area to wash dishes and a washer and dryer. Obviously bring your own cooking equipment, food, tentage (or van) and bedding.

Kit Requirements

Additional kit if you have them: throw line/knife, sling/krab, splits, group shelter or bivvy bag, whistle, mobile in drybag, first aid kit, headtorch, maps of area/mapcase, river guides to area

Please make your own arrangements to borrow any club kit and offering or requesting car shares - email to arrange access to the container.

Impossible to be precise, all subject to number of coaches/leaders/weather/river levels but expect Club Trips in some seriously beautiful scenery on excellent WW touring rivers at grades from 1/2 to 3/4. Leaders so far are Steve Saunders, Dave Coan, DaveB, Matt Dunn Nick Morral and Grant Mckelvie.
