WEEKEND PADDLES AND OTHER TRIPS
Most weekends there will be Members paddling somewhere, on the sea or surf or on white water or inland touring rivers. Weekends away are likely to include the Dart, Pembrokeshire and the Tyne.
Longer trips each year may include Scotland, Ireland and the Greek islands for wild camping/sea kayaking, or the Alps for white water.
Please join us as a member to take advantage of these trips. All trips are advertised through our website and shared by email when you become a member.
CLUB TRIPS/ACTIVITIES and PEER TRIPS/ACTIVITIES
Club trips/activities are offered by, or on behalf of, the committee. They will offer coaching and/or leadership by a club approved coach or paddle leader working within his or her approved remit.
Peer trips/activities are offered by members and are informal, with each individual responsible for themselves or younger paddlers in their care. The Club is not responsible for Peer activities.
PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE
Club members have public liability insurance whilst taking part in Club Trips/Activities. Your household insurance may give public liability cover on Peer Trips/Activities.
If you do not have relevant cover under a household policy, probably the cheapest way to get this is to join British Canoeing as an “On the water member” as well as being a member of the Club
DUTY OF CARE AND ASSUMED RISK
On Club Activities Members and prospective members will be owed a duty of care by the Coach/Leader which will include advice and assistance with choice of kit if requested. But paddle sport is always an assumed risk activity and the older/more experienced you are the more you must take responsibility for your own safety.
