Grant and Matt (any maybe others!) are running a leisurely trip down the Dee from Log Cabins in Glyndyfrdwy to Mile End Mill, via (but not over) Horseshoe Weir. This is a grade 1/2 section, with a small section of G3. This is a trip suitable for people starting out on moving water, although bear in mind it is end of November and will be cold so warm paddling kit is essential.
If you wish, your trip can finish at Horseshoe Weir.
We will then continue on down to Mile End Mill for those who wish, taking in Serpent's Tail (portageable if preferred). This is a G2/3 section of the trip.
Trip is subject to water levels as always.
This is a split Club and Peer Paddle - the Club Paddle has a max of 10 paddlers, but please put yourself on the waiting list if it fills up as other Leaders may be able to join me, and I'll let you know.
The meet will be at 09.30 at Mile End Mill where we will sort the shuttle, dropping cars at the weir for those getting off there. Remember to register your car with MEM when you arrive, and to pay access if you intend coming on down to MEM.
We will aim to get on at Cabins at 10.15, roughly 2 hours (10km) down to the weir. Picnic on the bank, and then on down to MEM for mid-afternoon.
Kit wise - WW boat with air bags, paddle, deck, BA and helmet. Lunch, drink, and any safety equipment you may have and know how to use. Clothing suitable for paddling on cold water in Autumn. Wet suit with rain coat a minimum, preferably a dry suit. If you need club kit please call Grant on 07837 963160 well in advance to arrange collection. You will need to arrange transport of your kit to and from the river.
Any questions please give Grant a shout on 07837 963160.
Happy paddling!
