Shrewsbury Canoe Club

Public Liability Insurance

Club members have third party liability and professional indemnity insurance for any Club Activity and for entry-level competitions organised for, or on behalf of, PUK Discipline Committees, or participation events organised by Regional Development Teams.

Club members who are Paddle Leaders are also covered by insurance when they coach and lead groups on Club Activities, (subject to exceptions relating to coaching/leadership in a commercial context).

Whilst paddling on Peer Activities membership of the Club does not give the benefit of public liability insurance and members will only have the benefit of the PUK policy if they are individual members of PUK

After any incident involving non-trivial injury on a Club Activity, the Paddle Leader must inform the Chairman or Secretary within 24 hours and must complete the incident report form available on the club website. Peer paddlers who have the benefit of PUK 3rd party insurance are also urged to do so if an incident occurs for which they might be held liable.

PUK Public Liability Insurance does not provide members with personal accident insurance cover. Kayaking and Canoeing are assumed risk activities and members should consider whether personal accident insurance provides a suitable level of cover in the event of personal injury while paddling.
