THIS IS THE CONFIRMED WHITE WATER SAFETY & RESCUE COURSE - TWO COURSE DATES ARE CURRENTLY CONFIRMED, THE OTHER THE FOLLOWING WEEK WHICH IS A SEPERATE EVENT.

This course is initially open on 24 January for 7 days for those who have previously expressed an interest to attend this course to book on. Those people have been sent separately a booking code for early booking. On 31 January the course will be open for registration to the wider Club membership. Allocation will be on a 1st come 1st serve basis - there are 6 places available. Register on the waiting list if the event is full - if enough additional interest then a further course will be organised.

The Club is very pleased to confirm that the renowned 5 star Kayak Coach Tom Parker has been secured to deliver the sought after White Water Safety and Rescue Training on 7th and 8th May. This is a fantastic opportunity to get the best WW rescue training available.

This course is a requirement to those who are obtaining their WW Leader qualification, or for those who simply would like to improve their rescue skills in White Water.

Attendees must come fully kitted for two days intensive training with lots of paddling, a lot of swimming in cold water, and a lot of fun. All normal WW equipment needed, and Tom will advise additional safety equipment that will be needed, prior to the event.

It is recommended you bring your own boat and paddle or they can be hired from the Club. Usual Club hire process applies.

The course fee is £260 per person. The Club has agreed to cover 50% of the course fee for attendees who commit to leading on trips for the Club following assessment, and supporting other leaders following course completion. And also for members who commit to supporting Leaders on trips with additional rescue cover. As such the course fee is £130 per person. The Club reserves the right to ask for the difference from attendees if there is no ongoing commitment to the Club - you will appreciate funds are limited and they need to stretch to ensuring maximum paddling opportunities for our members in the future.

If you would rather not commit to the club, then please contact Grant McKelvie at secretary@shrewsburycanoeclub.org to discuss an option for self funding all of the course fees.

The 50% fee is required at time of booking. If you need to later cancel then every opportunity will be made by the Club to 'sell on' your course place, however if it is no sold on then with regret the Club is not able to offer any refunds. This mirrors the policy of the Course Provider. Refunds will be offered in the event the Club needs to cancel the course.

Should you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact Simon Pond (simonrpond@aol.com) or Grant McKelvie on secretary@shrewsburycanoeclub.org or 07837 963160.
