Where? – River Dart Country Park (RDCP)

We are returning to beautiful and hopefully rainy Dartmoor for our annual pilgrimage to the river Dart, staying at the River Dart Country Park conveniently located at the end of the Loop section.

What’s the plan?

As in previous years, more experienced paddlers will have the opportunity to join us for a PEER PADDLE on the Upper Dart (grade 4).

The main led club paddle on Saturday and Sunday will most likely be on the Dart Loop, or Lower Dart, both of which are fun grade 2/3 rivers, or a suitable alternative depending on rain and levels.

As always, the plan is subject to change depending on levels, weather and group ability.

The club paddle is suitable for anyone with some moderate moving water experience, ideally a few sessions on the Dee or lower Tryweryn. If you are not sure whether this is for you, drop us a line or just talk to any of the leaders at one of the regular club evenings or on another trip.

Accommodation

We have secured 2x 6 bed bunk rooms at the Country Park, which are £40 per person per night including linen and breakfast. There is also the option to camp at the Country Park, for a list of prices see Camping & Caravan Tariff 2025. Both of these include your entrance fee to the park which is usually £12 for the weekend.

To book one of the beds please email info@riverdart.co.uk, the booking is under my name (Marc Labuhn). They will reserve your bed, and send you a link to pay. Payment must be made no later than 1 week in advance.

To camp, please just book your pitch at riverdart.co.uk to suit your requirements.

After booking to secure your place, we suggest you don’t make payment until the week prior - the Dart can be a bit temperamental with river levels, and there is no penalty for cancelling a min 7 days prior. We should have a good idea by then. 

You can self cater, but most of us will be doing breakfast and evening meal at the onsite cafe The Old Saw Mill. Dinner is not included in the accommodation fee. 

Kit and Boats

As always, kit and boats are available to hire from the Club for the weekend. You will be responsible for getting your boat and to and from the Dart.
