The 3Ds next paddle
A lovery paddle down the river seven, going into/through Locks ( having the unique experance of being in a lock in a boat whilst the water levels drop). aka Limcomb Lock/Holtfeet lock and Bevere lock). also known no portaging.
This trip is not for the faint hearted as will be around or over 14 miles in length and will take all day. Those who are interested may want to know that the last time shrewsbury canoe club did this trip as a event, was around ten years ago or PGN as some of us say ( pre Grant and NIcks joining ) you can see the you tube: video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTUWif9mal8 .
**** extra points if you can spot any members who were there now. ( clue one of the 3 Ds) im not aware the club did this again but let me know.
Crafts long ones aka sea kayaks, canoes ( preferable tanderm) or cross over kayaks at present we dont have permission for SUPS so we have decided to say at present no SUPs ( sorry).
You will need the usual BA, personal first aid kit, food ( first/ second breakfast., lunch/ snacks etc) Drinks hot and cold, Money for pub, more food or first breakfast whilst awaiting the shuttle to come back. Any shelters or tow lines or throw lines you have are always apprecated, so bring along and any other kit you wanted to try out like instant kettles or stools to sit on etc but please remember its going in your boat.
Adequate clothing perferably Kags, Drysuits and spare clothing and towel etc with you ( think what do i do when i fall out in a lock and get wet and have 9 miles to paddle when soggy and it may still be a tad chilly) .
footware for slippery banks
Car park will be at present around £5.50 for the day
#warning shuttle is 17 miles so will take a while to sort out there and back hence first breakfast *joke (if your family love you and want to drop you of and pick you up and your boat ask one of the 3 Ds and we will give you better estimate of start time etc)
Assume finish around 5:30pm
PLEASE, please if you have any elments injuries or handicaps or disabilites let one of the 3 Ds know before we start, we are here for your safety but what we dont know can possible kill you.
Lastly this trip is open to all who can paddle in a straight line with some minimum flow, bar the cavats above.
please Email myself Davidjcoan@hotmail.com or del.66@hotmail.co.uk for advice etc
if you have done some pool sessions or fancy trying a sea boat this could be the one for yous/ or have paddled a bit and want to improve your straight line skills etc
