The 2Ds wacky and slightly different day out/ or how to catch a duck on a river.
In exchange for free tea and cake and the ability to Launch in a private field for a get on at Atcham. SCC members play the very enjoyable role of chasing and collecting about 800 small yellow plastic ducks after they've been released from the old bridge at Atcham, as part of the Atcham summer fete on Sunday the 7th of July. tis a good laugh and who doesn't enjoy a fete and free tea and cake.
so if you can paddle in a straight line and have a canoe, kayak or SUP book on for an afternoon of watching 800 yellow ducks get released from a bridge and then spend a hour trying to get them all back onto a canoe and then in a bag for next year.
Meeting point We're given special car access to the field upstream of the bridges to assemble from 2:15 to 2:30pm, NB this will then allow us to have access all year to this get in in essence its the opposite side of the river to the layby, and then paddle down under the bridges to await the release of the ducks at about 3pm. There's about an hour of frenetic paddling to make sure that none of the pesky ducks escape and are all caught and first ones tagged and then bagged up for next year .
then a quick paddle back and a wander down to the fete, for tea and hopefully cake. Bring the family and they can always sit and watch while eating cake of throw a tombola etc. Note if you need a boat let me know and we can arrange collection on the Friday or club night Monday.
