Call for interest - Coastal Navigation and Tidal Planning course

A couple of sea paddlers are thinking of booking a Coastal Navigation and Tidal Planning (CNTP) course for club members. This email / event is to gauge interest. People expressing an interest in this will be given priority booking if the course is run.

CNTP is a land / desk based course. The aim is to give participants the tools to enable them to plan and navigate effectively on coastal journeys in moderate sea conditions i.e. coastal journeys including islands up to 2 nautical miles offshore in areas of tidal movement up to 2 knots.

You can find the syllabus here:

https://britishcanoeing.org.uk/uploads/documents/CNTP-Syllabus.pdf

The course would be run by Sue Couling, one of the country's top sea kayak coaches and a member of Shrewsbury club. Sue would do the course over two days, one face to face and one online. She suggests that the online meeting is evening of 9 February and the face to face day is 12 February, in a local venue.

There will be a charge, to be decided: we will let people know what this is before the event is opened up to actual bookings.

Booking by clicking "Yes" in the email or on the website is not a commitment to go on the course - it is just so we can gauge the level of interest and see if it is worth running. We will send out a separate email if it does go ahead.

If you are interested but have a problem with the dates, please do register an interest, and send us an email to let us know, so that we can judge whether it is worth adjusting dates.
